Tuesday (Mangalvar) Vrat Katha — Hanuman ji

Tuesday Vrat is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Devotees observe this fast seeking strength, courage, protection from difficulties, and relief from obstacles. Below are the complete Vrat Katha, Puja Vidhi, and benefits.

Tuesday Vrat Katha

Once upon a time, there lived a Brahmin couple who had no children. Because of this, they were very sad.

Every Tuesday, the Brahmin would go to the forest and worship Lord Hanuman, praying for the blessing of a child. His wife was also a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman and observed a fast every Tuesday. At the end of her fast, she would offer food to Lord Hanuman before having her own meal.

One Tuesday, for some reason, the Brahmin woman was unable to prepare food and could not offer bhog to Lord Hanuman. She made a resolve in her heart that she would not eat until the following Tuesday, when she would offer bhog to Lord Hanuman.

She remained without food and water for six days. When the next Tuesday arrived, she fainted due to the prolonged fasting and exhaustion. Seeing her devotion, faith, and determination, Lord Hanuman was extremely pleased. He appeared before her and blessed her, saying, “O Brahmin woman, I am pleased with your devotion. I bless you with a son who will serve you devotedly.”

Lord Hanuman blessed her with a beautiful son. The Brahmin woman was overjoyed. Since the child was received as a blessing of the Tuesday Vrat, she named him Mangal.

Some time later, the Brahmin returned home from the forest. He saw a beautiful child playing in the house and asked his wife, “Who is this child?” The Brahmin woman happily replied, “Lord Hanuman blessed me with this son because of my Tuesday Vrat.”

However, the Brahmin did not believe her. He thought that his wife was hiding something from him.

One day, the Brahmin was going to fetch water from a well. His wife asked him to take Mangal along with him. The Brahmin took Mangal to the well, but he still had doubts in his mind. He pushed Mangal into the well and returned home alone with the water.

When he reached home, his wife asked, “Where is Mangal?” Before the Brahmin could answer, Mangal came into the house from behind, smiling. The Brahmin was astonished to see Mangal alive and safe. He could not understand how this was possible.

That night, Lord Hanuman appeared to the Brahmin in a dream and said, “I have given you this child. You should not have doubted your wife. He is your son, blessed by me.”

The Brahmin realized his mistake. He understood the truth and became very happy. He apologized to his wife and accepted the glory of Lord Hanuman.

After this, the Brahmin and his wife began observing the Tuesday Vrat with devotion and worshipping Lord Hanuman regularly. They lived their lives happily and peacefully.

It is believed that whoever observes the Tuesday Vrat with faith and discipline and reads or listens to the Tuesday Vrat Katha receives the blessings of Lord Hanuman. The difficulties and obstacles in the devotee’s life are believed to be removed, bringing happiness, peace, and prosperity.
